Through 23 years in the UK and teaching people from many countries, I began to see this structure more clearly.　 Even my students who are complete beginners — including those in SpeakBeginnerJapanese — often touch Japanese people simply by trying, because the heart is visible long before vocabulary.

日本人と はなす 前に、どこで すれちがいが 生まれるのか、 かんがえた ことが ありますか。 その 小さい ギャップは、 日本の まわりの かんきょうが 作る 心の 使い方 から 生まれる ことが 多いです。

日本では、 しんらいは「心の むけ方」から 生まれます。 イギリスでは、 しんらいは まったく ちがう ところから 生まれます。 この 小さい ちがいが、すれちがいの げんいんに なります。 その うらには、もっと 深い しくみが あります。

私はイギリスに 23年 住んでいて、 いろいろな 国の 人たちに 教えて、 この しくみを 見ました。
