How To Order Sake In Japanese

how to order sake in japanese japanese sake sake Sep 21, 2025

Do you drink sake? It’s getting cooler in the UK and often Japanese people choose either cold sake or hot sake in between two seasons. I’m a wine drinker 99% but I’d like to share my lesson how to order sake in Japanese today.

You usually choose hot or cold, but you don’t say ‘atsui’ and ‘tsumetai’ for sake temperature. You also must choose the bottle sizes when you order.

You’ll be able to order sake in Japanese at your local Japanese restaurant and enjoy interaction with Japanese people 😊

I made this lesson video from the same lesson I taught at JAPAN LIFE, a sake event organised by Kumiko Ohta and Xavier, the founders of Sake Sommelier Academy.

I was honoured to have been invited to this event in London and had a great time.

Also, I took their sake sommelier course, and they gave me a certificate back in 2019.

Why did I take it? Because I was requested to teach Japanese for their students and I wanted to understand what kind of students and why they love sake.

So, I can work as a sake sommelier at a hotel or a restaurant too!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy both hot and cold sake depending on the day when the season is changing!
